PATERSON, NJ - Continuing to subscribe to the “broken windows” theory of policing that even the most minor of public safety issues often lead to larger crimes, Paterson Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale announced the arrests of four females in an undercover prostitution operation Friday.
The investigation in the area of Van Houten Avenue and Auburn Street came based on complaints by community members and involved an undercover detective who posed as a john. During the course of the operation the detective, Spezial said, was waved down by the females in an attempt to gain his attention and subsequently proposition him for sexual activity in exchange for money.

“We have focused on the prostitutes drawing people to the community and will continue to focus on both the prostitutes and johns,” Speziale said. “We will continue to put a lid on it."
