PATERSON, NJ - A 22-year-old Paterson man previously identified as the suspect ina  December 5 shooting that left a male victim with a non-fatal gunshot wound has been arrested, according to law enforcement,

In a statement, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora announced that Alex Nieves was apprehended Saturday after being observed by members of the Paterson Police Department driving a motor vehicle in the area of Totowa Avenue. Police attempted to stop Nieves who is said to have fled before crashing in the area of East Main Street.

Nieves now faces up to 20 years in prison for the most serious crime of Attempted Murder in the December incident that, as previously reported, took place at approximately 10:40 a.m. in the area of Rosa Parks Boulevard. Nieves also faces several drug charges related to his arrest.
