CLIFTON, NJ - For Clifton’s Team Realty, supporting the community they work in is as important as selling homes there. On Thursday, they showed this to be the case when their team members, with social distancing in mind, gathered in assembly line fashion to package food essentials for nearly 150 local families.

The “awesome” effort, as Director of Communications Grace Lopez called it, was part of Keller Williams Realty’s annual Red Day. Held the second Thursday of each May, the annual day of service is one, an agent in Bayonne’s office said, "to stop working to focus on raising money to help our local communities any way we can."

Team Realty members, as well as family and friends, started by raising money to purchase the food items that included potatoes, rice, beans, carrots, and chicken, and culminated in the Thursday giveaway as they split off and made the deliveries to homes across Clifton and Paterson.

In addition to the satisfaction of helping families in need, Lopez said, it was also a great opportunity for colleagues, who have been working remotely throughout the COVID-19 public health crisis, to be together again. “It was a beautiful day,” Lopez said, giving the feeling that she intended that to mean more than just the weather.

Modest about the generosity they exhibited, Lopez concluded that “we are doing what we can with what we have.”

“The feeling that we are doing good for others and the community provides us with a natural sense of accomplishment,” Maureen Belisle-Leong, Broker of Record for Team Realty said, adding that when confronted with so much uncertainty it was “therapeutic” to contribute their efforts to help others.

“This year's Red Day, more than any other, gave us a sense of pride , identity, and appreciation,” Belisle-Leong said before summoning her patriotism. “We are Americans; we are pioneers. This is uncharted territory, but when not afraid, it's the home of the brave. We can overcome anything together.“
