PATERSON, NJ - Calvary Baptist Church's celebration of Black History Month begins Sunday with Political Awareness Sunday, honoring New Jersey Democratic State Committee Chairman John Currie, and continues throughout the month.

On Sunday, February 9, Paterson's Poet Laureate, Talena Lachelle Queen will be honored on Arts and Humanities Sunday. The service will also include a performance by the Rosa L. Parks High School of Fine and Performing Arts Choir and Band.

Black Entrepreneurship will be recognized on Sunday, February 16 at a service that will honor Cecil Fulmore and will include special guest Nigel Lassiter.

Community activist Raheem Smallwood will be honored on Community Service & Youth Sunday on February 23.

All services begin at 10:00 a.m. and will be followed by small receptions.

An extra day in February this year means one more of worship at Calvary Baptist Church will use to host a Women Progressing in Ministry Fashion Show at 5:00 p.m. Tickets for this special event are just $20.
