Montclair Ousts Kennedy in FB Playoffs

 

PATERSON, NJ - Five different players scored touchdowns as top-seeded Montclair trounced Kennedy, 35-0, Saturday in the state football playoffs.

The Knights were hanging tough with Mounties, who are ranked in the top 10 in the state, until the third quarter. The score was was 14-0 at the half, but then Montclair intercepted two third-quarter passes and ran them back for touchdowns to seal the game.

It was Kennedy's first appearance in the state playoffs in more than 20 years. The Knights are now 4-5 and look to finish with a .500 record with a win over arch-rival Eastside on Thanksgiving. Two years ago, the Ghosts were 4-5 heading into the Turkey Bowl and a Kennedy upset derailed their bid for a .500 record.

In other state playoff action, Ridgewood defeated Passaic Tech 31-18.
