Paterson's Fontan Leads USC in Assists


PATERSON, NJ - After missing all of last season with an injury, Patersonian Gio Fontan is leading the University of Southern California Trojans in assists this year.

The senior guard who played high school ball for a state-champion St. Anthony's team is averging 5.5 assists and and 8.5 points per game for the Trojans, who are 3-5.

Fontan is shooting at a 74 percent clip from the foul line, but is struggling from the field, with a 27.3 percentage.
