NEW BRUNSWICK - City police issued an alert early today seeking help in locating a girl who was reported missing.

Alma Garcia, 14, was last seen about 7 a.m. Wednesday in the area of Sanford Street and Commercial Avenue in New Brunswick.

The girl’s mother found self-inflicted cuts on the youth’s left arm, and the words “Help me” cut into the same arm, police said.

They said the girl has a verbal argument with her mother and threatened to leave the residence.

The Hispanic girl is described as five-foot, two-inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds.

She was last seen wearing a rainbow-colored crop top, dark orange pants and Adidas sandals with socks, and she had an aqua-colored backpack.

Officers ask that anybody with information that could assist in safety locating Garcia call 911 or contact police.
