SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – The 6th Annual Holy Savior Academy 5K Run and 1 Mile Family Walk will be held on Saturday, June 3, beginning at 9 a.m. The 2017 event, which will take place along a certified course that is flat, easy and fun for all ages and abilities, will benefit both the school and the South Plainfield-based Pink SOCS Foundation – Sisters of Cancer Survivors, a local non-profit that provides assistance to individuals and families affected by cancer.

“With this event, we are showing our local youth that they can be healthy, race with their friends and make a difference with a local charity that supports so many families,” 5K Committee Chairman Carl Adlassnig.

The race will start and end at Holy Savior Academy and follow a USA Track and Field certified 5K course through the South Plainfield community. The 1 Mile Family Fun Walk will also start and end in the school parking lot next to Sacred Heart Church.  Free T-shirts will be provided to the first 100 registered runners and prizes will be awarded to the top male and female 5K competitors in a variety of age groups.

“In the past, the Holy Savior Academy 5K Run and 1 Mile Family Walk has garnered close to 200 participants,” said Adlassnig. “Donations from the event go toward funding academic programs at the school as well as assisting Pink SOCS in its mission to assist local New Jersey families affected by cancer with their everyday bills and expenses.”

In addition to runners and walkers, sponsorships and/or donations from individuals, local businesses and organizations are also needed to help make this year’s event a success. Four different sponsorship opportunities – Platinum ($300), Gold ($200), Silver ($100) and Bronze ($50) – are currently available with patron sponsorships in any amount welcome as well. All sponsorships must be received by Holy Savior as soon as possible to ensure inclusion in promotional materials.

Holy Savior Academy, an AdvanceED accredited Middlebrook Deanery Catholic School serving students in pre-K 3 through 8th grade, is located at 149 South Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield – next to the Church of the Sacred Heart.
