8 Apartments Damaged, Fire Leaves 21 Homeless in Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Residents of eight apartment units have been displaced following a fire in a building at the Mount Pleasant Villas complex in the Finderne section of the township Monday morning.

Officers from Bridgewater Township Police Department, as well as fire companies and emergency services from Bridgewater, Somerville, Manville, Franklin, Middlesex, Finderne, North Branch and Bound Brook responded to the 2100 building of Sunny Slope Road around 9 a.m.

The fire was extinguished, with 21 people from eight units displaced.

One adult male suffered minor burns; he was treated at the scene and released, police said.

The complex features one- two- and three-bedroom apartments, with monthly rentals ranging between $1,595-$1,850.

The Red Cross is assisting with housing the displaced families.

The fire is being investigated by the Bridgewater Bureau of Fire Safety.
