PISCATAWAY, NJ – The 18th Annual Taste of Piscataway brought out dozens of area eateries and beverage companies to the Radisson Hotel on Monday, where hungry visitors were able to sample a wide variety of pastas, sausages, lamb slider burgers, duck wings and seafood dishes, and an assortment of desserts, all for a good cause.

Sponsored by the Piscataway Rotary Club which also celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, the annual ‘taste’ helps raise money to support the group’s many community service causes including their scholarship fund and dictionary donations to every third grader in Piscataway, contributions to the FISH Food Bank and relief efforts in other parts of the world.

“We have over 20 restaurants and wine vendors here and sold about 200 tickets,” said Nalaka Dias, the Piscataway Rotary Club’s president for 2017-2018.

He said they expect to raise almost $10,000 from this year’s ‘taste’. “This is our biggest fund raiser which goes to support all our events throughout the year. We really appreciate all of the restaurants for coming out, as well the platinum sponsors and the gold sponsors and all of the people who came here to enjoy the evening with us.”

Participating restaurants included the Radisson Hotel’s Fusions Restaurant, Cedar Grove Café & Catering, Middlesex County Vo-Tech’s culinary program, Ellery’s Restaurant & Pub, Sapore Ravioli & Cheese, Red Lobster, Sigiri Sri Lanka Restaurant, Maggiano’s, LaBonbonniere Bake Shoppe and many others.

“They had a lot of good choices, a lot of different ethnicities and nationalities and backgrounds represented,” said Loren Foster mentioning how much her children enjoyed the Chicken Crunch bites from Cedar Grove Café and the chocolate S’mores from Season’s 52. “It was mix of locations from around Piscataway and bordering towns. They gave a lot of good coupons and free incentives to come in to enjoy the rest of their menus.”

“As you can see our team pulled off another great event,” said Dias.

The Piscataway Rotary Club’s next event is their annual Memorial Day Family Event to honor military veterans on Monday, May 28th in Quibbletown Park from 12:30-3:00 pm, right after the parade.
