NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - An attorney was arrested after he tried to bring a loaded handgun into the Middlesex County Superior Courthouse on Monday.
Mark B. Jander, 29, of Freehold, has been charged with one count of unlawful possession of a weapon, according to a statement released by Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Middlesex County Sheriff Mildred S. Scott.
Jander does not possess a permit to carry a firearm, police said.
Jander was arrested and charged earlier when a concealed loaded handgun was discovered by Middlesex County Sheriff’s Officers in the attorney’s briefcase as his belongings were being scanned at the security checkpoint at the courthouse.
A search of his briefcase yielded the loaded fireman.
He was immediately taken into custody.
