EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - Mildred Graham broke the ice.  She was the first African-American teacher in the East Brunswick Public Schools, during a time when many school districts said that they were "not ready" to integrate the faculty. 

Well, thank Superintendent Murray Chittick for hiring the first Black part-time teacher for Churchill School in 1953.
