PISCATAWAY, NJ – Emergency rescue units responded to the scene of an overturned tractor trailer that trapped and killed an occupant on Route 287 northbound between Exits 8-9 at the start of Friday’s afternoon rush hour.
According to the Breaking News Network (BNN) which monitors for police, fire and rescue activity, the accident was initially reported as “a vehicle off the roadway” at about 3:38 pm, closing the right and center lanes at the exit for River Road in Piscataway, with 10-15 minute delays.
BNN later reported there was an entrapment and fatality, and rescuers were able to extricate a patient from the truck.
At 4:20 pm, the right and center lanes remained closed for the investigation and cleanup, with delays through the area reported to be 30-35 minutes.
Rubbernecking delays were also reported on the southbound side of Route 287 through the area.
