NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - The Middlesex County Office of Culture & Heritage invites you to a celebration of Diwali, India’s Festival of Lights, with the Taalim School of Indian Music.
The free performance is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov.13 at the Crossroads Theatre, 7 Livingston Ave., in New Brunswick.
To open the presentation, high-energy drumming from the Taalim Youth Ensemble will be played on one of India’s most prized and ancient percussion instruments, the tabla. Then the mood will switch to the beats of rhythmic drumming accompanied by the expressive theatrical movements of acclaimed dancer Jin Won, as she performs the dynamic centuries-old dance tradition of North India known as Kathak.
