KEANSBURG, NJ.  Summer fun is ready and waiting for you at Keansburg Amusement Park, located in the heart of the New Jersey bayshore.

The venue includes a great waterpark, rides for all ages, games and tempting food choices.   With just a few weeks remaining in the summer season, Keansburg is a fantastic destination for families, couples and many more.

Start your day at Runaway Rapids Waterpark with thrilling slides that include their Nestea Plunge, Mountain Blast, Mega Bunga Falls and Soaring Thunder. Interactive play areas like the Toddler's Reef and Tipping Bucket & Bridge will delight children. And for those who prefer to relax, float endlessly on Castaways Creek or visit the Lost Lagoon heated pool.  Take a break in comfortable lounge chairs and soak up the sun.

The waterpark has timed entry so you can stay 2-3 hours with admission and there is a special rate for “Dry Spectators.”  We like that lockers and changing rooms are readily available.

Just across Beachway Avenue from Runaway Rapids, excitement awaits with amusements for one and all. Prize wheels, games of skill and arcades offer hours of fascinating fun.  Be sure to test play some skeeball and collect your prize tickets. It’s a favorite Jersey Shore pastime.

Enticing rides keep you whirling and twirling.  Sixteen kiddie rides like the Antique Cars, Fire Engines, Airplanes, Jolly Caterpiller and the Oval Kiddie Whip will bring miles of smiles to the youngsters. And everyone will enjoy the classic rides like Bumper Cars, Tilt-a-Whirl and the Wave Swinger. Thrill rides for the daring include the Pharaoh's Fury, Cliffhanger, Chaos and Double Shot. For extra thrills, take a spin on the Go-Karts and visit Hallowgraves Haunted Manor.

A wide selection of food choices offers something for everyone. The Olde Heidelberg Inn has been a favorite Keansburg eatery since 1936.  It has been meticulously restored since Hurricane Sandy and it offers some of the best hot dogs on the Jersey Shore.

Club Miami allows guests to relax over drinks while enjoying their raw bar, seafood, burgers and their specialty, clam chowder. Concessions and casual spots abound with your favorite summertime fare. Indulge in tempting selections like sausage and peppers, corn on the cob, shish kabob, zeppolis, funnel cakes, nachos, pizza, ice cream, cotton candy, funnel cakes and more.

Anglers might prefer to do a little fishing and take it easy. Keansburg has a 2,000-foot fishing pier that overlooks the scenic Raritan Bay. No tackle, no problem. You can rent bait, tackle, pole and scoop nets on site.  The pier also offers a wonderful view of the New York City skyline.

Keansburg Amusement Park is wonderfully maintained and adds new attractions each year. It is one of the oldest family-owned amusement parks in the Garden State. Check out their summer specials that make it a true bargain at the New Jersey Shore.  And they feature events like Mermaid Mondays, fireworks displays and special celebrations.

Put Keansburg on your "must go" list for a totally fun happening. Runaway Rapids is open until Sept. 11 and the amusement park will stay open weekends through September, weather permitting.

Extra Time

It was close to 70 minutes into the match and I had to go to the bathroom.  Badly.

As fans watching the World Cup know too well, bathroom breaks are a serious dilemma, especially for those who don’t have a TV in the loo.  This biological necessity is exasperated by beer, which during World Cup matches also fuels a strong propensity to throw chairs and instigate riots.
