PISCATAWAY, NJ – Water, water, everywhere! As heavy morning rains depart the area, flooding is being reported in low-lying areas around the township.

The Piscataway Police Department issued travel alerts throughout Monday morning and afternoon advising motorists of the following road closures, all due to flooding.

  • Possumtown Road between Third Ave. and Centennial Ave.
  • S. Randolphville Road between Behmer Road and Sidney Road
  • S. Randolphville Road between Ambrose Valley Lane and Revere Road (now reopen)

Possumtown Road at Tower Blvd. near Birch Run Drive was also closed for flooding, among other areas.

Motorists should use caution and not attempt to drive through flooded roads.

The National Weather Service issued flood warnings for Middlesex County and the surrounding areas saying "excessive runoff from this morning`s heavy rain will continue to cause flooding along creeks, streams, smaller river basins and in poor drainage areas this afternoon."
