NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — City police are searching for a man who punched someone in the face this month at a party, according to a Rutgers crime alert.

The attack occurred at 2:02 a.m. Feb. 4 in a “private residence” on Guilden Street, between Bristol and Courtland streets, according to the notification. Police have described the incident as aggravated assault.

The victim, who police said is affiliated with Rutgers University, was trying to break up a fight when the suspect struck. A nearby hospital then treated the victim for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police believe the perpetrator is an African-American male in his early 20s who wore a gray tank top and “light-colored” pants that night. He is roughly 5 feet and 7 inches tall, “with a muscular build and curly hair,” according to the alert.

The Rutgers University Police Department blasted the alert out late this afternoon.
