ROSELLE, NJ — Fire fighters battled a fire that broke out on the 200 block of Thompson Ave. around 4:15 p.m. on New Years Day. The home, a 2.5 story wood frame, was found with heavy fire and smoke when firemen arrived at the scene. 

Elizabeth Fire was called in for mutual aide with engines from Garwood, Kenilworth and Roselle Park to help cover. 

According to Mayor Dansereau, who was at the scene, the two families who reside in the home were in the house when the fire broke out and everyone escaped without injury. She also said that the Red Cross will be notified. 

The fire was brought under control at about 5 p.m. The cause of blaze was unknown.
