NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and the New York City Fire Department will conduct an infectious disease response and containment exercise on Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon on the hospital’s New Brunswick campus, the hospital announced Tuesday.
Areas that may be impacted by the exercise include the hospital’s Emergency Department, Respiratory Care Unit and Emergency Department ambulance entrance.
According to a press release, the exercise will help partners on its academic medical campus and the NYFD evaluate the hospital's response in the event it receives a patient showing symptoms of an infectious and contagious disease.
Hospital, Mobile Health Service and NYFD personnel may be seen on campus wearing personal protective equipment during the exercise. Signs will be posted throughout the impacted areas to inform patients, visitors, and employees, that the exercise is underway.
All normal hospital operations and visiting hours will continue during this time, according to the release.
