PISCATAWAY, NJ — Middlesex County health officials reported 2 new positive COVID-19 cases over the last 24-hour period, bringing the total to 852 residents who have tested positive in Piscataway. No additional information regarding the new cases was provided.

The reported death toll remains at 34 for the township.

There are now 16,724 positive cases in Middlesex County and 1,117 confirmed deaths, according to covid19.nj.gov

The New Jersey Department of Health reported on Saturday a total of 170,873 positive cases of the coronavirus since the pandemic began its spread in the state 117 days ago, and a total of 13,094 deaths during that time, an increase of 34 overnight.

According to covid19.nj.gov, as of 10 p.m. Friday, there were 1,103 patients in the hospital being treated for COVID-19, with 236 patients in ICU or critical care, and 200 patients on ventilators. There were 111 live patients discharged from the hospital.

Residents are reminded to remain vigilant in following the guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control, the State of New Jersey, and public health officials when it comes to social distancing, hand washing, covering coughs and sneezes, and disinfecting common areas. These are the best ways to reduce the rapid spread of the virus.
