PISCATAWAY, NJ -- One of the Piscataway High School football team’s commandments is “Reload”, but there was no reloading at Dominic R. Ciardi Field on Friday night as the Chiefs defeated J.P. Stevens, 62-0, on Senior Night.

Twenty players were honored for senior night before the game and many of them had an impact throughout the game.

Running back Juwon Jackson ran for three touchdowns and 182 yards on just eight carries (23 yards-per-carry). Jackson scored on runs of 51, 23, and 65 yards in the first half behind the blocks of Jordin Martell, Charles Parker, David Green, Austin Mosier, and others.

Jackson became the program’s second-leading rusher passing Tevin Shaw. He now has 2,971 career rushing yards. Elijah Barnwell, who is at Rutgers, is No. 1 with 5,728 yards.

Fullback Nick Recine started the day with an 8-yard score on the ground which was followed up by a Nasir Best touchdown on the ground that also went for eight yards.

After Jackson’s first touchdown, receiver Lord Jones rounded out the first quarter with a 17-yard touchdown through the air from quarterback Joey Hatcher. Hatcher finished 4-of-5 for 74 yards. His four completions went to four different receivers. Joey Bellamy caught the longest ball for 37 yards.

Piscataway led 48-0 at the half.

After the break, Khristian Hernandez scooted into the end zone for a 5-yard touchdown run and Best took in his second score of the day from 48 yards out. Best totaled 56 yards and two scores on just two carries.

Hernandez also intercepted a pass in the third and returned it 58 yards to the house to cap the scoring. He finished with two picks.

For J.P. Stevens, quarterback Kasi Hazzard went 8-for-16 for 87 yards with three interceptions. He ran for 50 yards on 11 carries as well.

Devon Fowlkes chipped in with seven receptions for 46 yards and 20 rushing yards. Naran Buntin caught the other pass for 41 yards.

Through three games, Jackson has nine rushing touchdowns and Hatcher has five touchdown passes.

With the win, Piscataway improved to 3-0 and now has won 14 straight times against the Hawks. The two teams hadn’t played since 2015.

Next up, the Chiefs will travel to take on Old Bridge next Friday night at 7 p.m. The Knights have beaten Piscataway in the regular season the last two years but the Chiefs beat Old Bridge in the 2016 playoffs.

J.P. Stevens will host Plainfield next week.
