PISCATAWAY, NJ - Monday’s NJSIAA Wrestling Team Section Quarterfinals play brought victory for the Piscataway Chiefs as they triumphed over the Westfield Blue Devils 51-21 advancing to the semi-final round.

The number 3 seeded Chiefs qualified for the state quarterfinal round after coming in 6th place overall at the Greater Middlesex County Wrestling Tournament held at the end of January at Piscataway High School. Jordan Cooke, at 145 pounds, took first place for the team defeating John Sheedy of Bishop Ahr.

Cooke, combined with wins by Joseph Hatcher (152) and Michael Petite (160) went on to lead the Chiefs in its defeat of Westfield in the last round of action.

On Wednesday the Chiefs will face the Bridgewater-Raritan Panthers who are number 2 seeded coming out of Somerset County’s sectionals. Bridgewater-Raritan had a BYE night in the state quarterfinals.
