FLORHAM PARK, NJ -- A record 372 Eagles Scouts from the Class of 2015 were honored at the annual Boy Scouts of America Patriots' Path Council with an Eagle Recognition Dinner at the Park Avenue Club in Florham Park, NJ, on Friday, January 8.

Among them were George Eley, II from BSA Troop 20 and Kevin Meier from BSA Troop 148, both in Piscataway.

The recognition dinner celebrated all Council scouts who achieved the rank of Eagle (Scouting's highest rank) in the previous calendar year. This year, for the first time, Michael Surbaugh, the Chief Scout Executive of the Boy Scouts of America, attended and personally recognized each new Eagle Scout.

Additionally, five adult Eagles were inducted into the Council's "Eagle Hall of Fame": Gregory DeSalvo, Howard Gordon, Alan Grossman, Brian Hass, and Garrick Stoldt.

Patriots' Path Council serves over 16,000 youth in North Central New Jersey.  Nationally, only 5% of Scouts ever achieve the rank of Eagle, although Patriots' Path has long enjoyed a much higher average. To earn the rank, a Boy Scout must progress through the ranks of Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, and Life Scout and earn 21 merit badges or more.

Famous Eagle Scouts include astronauts Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon, James Lovell of Apollo 13 fame, Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, former NJ Senator Bill Bradley, billionaire/former NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg, Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg, and U.S. President Gerald R. Ford.
