PISCATAWAY, NJ — A 40-year-old Piscataway man has been charged with murder in the stabbing death following an altercation on Tuesday night.
William Johnson, 40, has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose for causing the death of Lawrence Darby, 32, of Piscataway, according to a press release from Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Thomas Mosier of the Piscataway Township Police Department.
Responding to 911 calls, Piscataway police found Darby in the driveway at 58 School Street at about 10:15 p.m. with what appeared to be a stab wound to his upper leg, according to the press release.
Police say that Johnson had allegedly stabbed Darby during an altercation and fled to his residence, where he was subsequently found.
Darby was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he died as a result of the injury.
Johnson was taken to the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center, pending a detention hearing.
