PISCATAWAY, NJ — It has been brought to our attention that a resident posted on a private Piscataway Facebook group regarding a citizen contact between two of our officers and a distressed male. The resident who created the post wanted to applaud the officers’ actions in light of current events.

On Sunday, May 31, 2020, Officers Slover and Alameda responded to the area of Columbus Park for a welfare check on a male subject. During their conversation with the male, they believed that he could possibly benefit from speaking to a medical professional, and he agreed. They then contacted the appropriate resources to get him the help that he needs, and they waited with him until that help arrived.

While none of our interactions with the public are ever considered “routine,” this is a prime example of one of the many different situations that our officers face on a daily basis. Our police department strives to always maintain professionalism while we service our great Piscataway Community.

Thank you to our resident for recognizing the efforts of these officers.
