PISCATAWAY, NJ - The 2015-2016 school year is here, and the Piscataway Township Board of Education has introduced a new theme: You…I…We Inspire. This logo and saying will be featured on the district’s school calendar, website, banners, signs and letters and other marketing materials.
The board’s School Cultural and Climate Committee did extensive study on how students can thrive in today’s learning atmosphere, and concluded children become their personal best when they are encouraged and motivated in positive, nurturing environments. “Every person in the community has the power to make a difference and inspire others, especially our children,” Superintendent Teresa M. Rafferty said.
Last week at the district convocation, staff and teachers were introduced to the new theme. They were encouraged to not only create and celebrate inspiring moments in their own daily lives, but to work together to motivate students to do the same.
“The Inspire theme is universal so it can easily be incorporated into our schools’ character education programs and other classroom activities,” Rafferty adds. “We want to enhance the great things that are already happening in our schools.”
On Friday, Sept. 18, the school district is hosting a Fall Festival in the Piscataway High School parking lot that will embrace the Inspire theme and include collaborative activities for community members of all ages, such as tailgating, hay rides, and crafts prior to the first home varsity football game for the year.
As the school year progresses, district officials are looking forward to seeing how the You…I…We Inspire theme and its meaning will come to life in a variety of positive ways within the schools and the entire Piscataway community.
