PISCATAWAY, NJ - Piscataway Township Schools will have a two-hour delayed opening Friday, March 9.
A Thursday evening announcement from Superintendent Teresa Rafferty states:
“Tomorrow, March 9, Piscataway Schools will be opened on a delayed schedule. That means that you arrive at school or your bus stop two hours later than normal.
The before care program will open at 8:30 am for those enrolled.
I recognize that there are still power outages and some downed trees. However, many roads are passable, our school parking lots are plowed, and some children are at home without heat or hot water. Please understand that we are trying to do what's right for the majority of children.
Please exercise patience and caution and allow extra time for walking, driving, or bus transport.
Bus drivers will do their best to be at your usual stop, but if a road is closed, you can go to an alternate stop.
Because of these weather-related emergencies, the district will excuse students who are reasonably late, and all students will be provided the hot lunch or a sandwich at no charge.
Although our schools will be open tomorrow, you are your child's parent and you may certainly keep your child at home if that is your choice.
Thank you for your attention and understanding.”
