Pre-Registration Now Open for Star Homework Club Participants and Advisors

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Pre-registration is NOW OPEN for Fall 2017 STAR Homework Club Participants. Opportunities are also available for students in grades 9-12 to earn community service and volunteer hours as STAR Advisors. Volunteers will provide general assistance to Teen Services Librarians. The STAR Homework Club will provide structured time for Piscataway students in grades 6-12 to complete homework after school in the teen spaces at Kennedy and Westergard Libraries. The goal of STAR is to provide students with the necessary time, space, and resources to excel in school, and to supplement their traditional education with outside of school learning.

STAR will meet every school day, 2:00-5:00 PM, at the Kennedy and Westergard Libraries in Piscataway. On half-days, STAR will meet 12:00 PM-3:00 PM. Activities will be offered 4:00 - 4:30 PM on select weekdays, and may include crafts, STEM learning, research assistance, book discussions, college/career chats, and more. The Library will provide some limited resources to participants during STAR, including pens, pencils, markers, paper, graphing calculators, and rulers. Some of the items will be loaned during STAR and will need to be returned before leaving. Participants will receive access to valuable library resources including research databases to assist with homework and other school projects.
