PISCATAWAY, NJ - On a cool summer Wednesday evening on Dominic R. Ciardi Field, home of the Piscataway High School Chiefs, the football team held their 2nd Annual Strongest Man Contest.

From Tire Flips, to Truck Pushes, to Farmer's Walks, to Atlas Stacks, the athletes gave it their all in hopes of being crowned the strongest man on the team, and hold bragging rights over everybody else.

Senior defensive tackle Dante Dickerson earned those bragging rights and the distinction of becoming Chiefs’ strongest man, all before the start of the blistering hot two-a-days of football training camp.

After being hounded by his teammates and taking a few photos, he was asked if he wanted food. Dickerson then let out a roar, “(Heck) yeah I want food!”

Dickerson, weighing close to 300-pounds clogs up the middle on defense while pushing ways to create holes for star running back Elijah Barnwell on the offensive line at guard.

Dickerson was a man-child out on the field, lifting up the weights and walking back and forth doing the Farmer’s Walk. He repeatedly picked up heavy plates, hustling to place on top of a wooden cube in the Atlas Stacks competition.

Dickerson pushed a giant silver pick-up truck for a few first-downs, and flipped up an enormous, heavy tire a good amount of times.

Second place went to Brian Buffalo while third place was awarded to Ronald Brooks.

For the upcoming 2016 season in September, the Chiefs move back to Central Jersey (Group 5) after spending the last 13 seasons in North Jersey, Section 2, Groups 4 and 5.

In 2002, their last appearance in the Central Jersey playoff division Piscataway was crowned CJG4 champs and now are back to facing familiar foes that already appear on their regular season schedule including Manalapan, Old Bridge, and East Brunswick, and could possibly renew the rivalry with nemesis Hunterdon Central down the line.

Sponsors for the Strongest Man Contest were Bellamy & Sons, LLC, Total Disposal, Retro Fitness, RWJ Cancer Institute, Pepsi, Dallas Flooring, Full Count Baseball, Double D Construction, Piscataway PBA Local 93, Peterson Home Improvements, Christina S. Walsh & Breast Cancer Foundation, Landmark, Cedar Grove, One Hour Cleaners, Gabriel’s, Bagel Bazaar, European Wax, China Moon, Embassy Suites, Quick Chek, and Sam I Am Bagels.
