Country Cottage Bake Shop, established in 1988, has been baking authentic Slovak Kolach for over twenty-five years! Our third generation recipe, from the village of Siroke, Slovakia, is made with fresh yeast requiring it to raise overnight. The following day, it is hand rolled, filled with the appropriate filling, and baked until golden brown!

Each Kolach is a “work of art” and no two are made exactly alike. It has brought consistent raves of “this tastes just like my grandmother made”, “I haven’t had this in years!”, “I’m so glad I found you”, and “thank you for making my Christmas shopping easy!”.

We use only the highest quality ingredients, and we do not add preservatives to our products. Our Walnut filling is made right here in the bakery with 100% fine ground California English Walnuts. Our Poppyseed filling is smooth and tasty; our Apricot, Lekvar (prune), and Seedless Red Raspberry fillings are the highest quality available. All our ingredients are produced in the USA!

Dr. Jacqueline Littlejohn - Candidate for Piscataway Town Council

April 13, 2018

Why are you running for election to the Piscataway Township Council?

I am running for election to the Piscataway Township Council because I believe that a vibrant democracy only flourishes when the governed have a voice in their government, be it in the form of compromise, protest, or even becoming viable candidates themselves. I have chosen the latter approach. As a candidate I want to be the ...

April 5, 2018

As Trenton currently looks to balance the budget, once again it’s our state’s hardest working citizens who will be left holding the bag. This time, though, it will be the hardworking office and ancillary staff from our small business private medical practices.  A bill called “The Out-of-Network Consumer Protection Bill” A-2039/S-485 looks poised to make ...

Cluelessly Clueless

I teenaged my way through high school under the assumption that my parents had no idea what I was doing.  I like to think I was pretty good at withholding information and presenting situations in ways that were other than they really were.

Still, sometimes they found things out.  Like the time my friends plopped me on our front door step at one o'clock in the morning ...
