EDISON, NJ - Plays-in-the-Park is proud to present the third and final offering of its summer 2016 season, the classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical South Pacific.

South Pacific premiered on Broadway in 1949 and tells the story of U.S. troops stationed on a South Pacific island during WWII, and the romance between an American military nurse and a French plantation owner.  This production will feature the original 26-piece orchestrations for this timeless score, featuring “Some Enchanted Evening,” “I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair,” and many more.

The show runs from July 27 to August 6 with no performance on Sunday, July 31. A Sign Language Interpreted performance will take place on August 3 (rain date August 4). An Audio Description performance will be offered July 29 (rain date July 30), and a performance with Open Captioning will take place August 1 (rain date August 2).

August 1 will be free for veterans of WWII and the Korean War; August 2nd for veterans of the Vietnam War; and August 3rd for veterans of all other wars and conflicts.

Plays-in-the-Park also continues to offer complimentary admission to the summer musicals for active U.S. Military Service members and their immediate families. There will be a select number of reserved seats available at each performance.

Veterans and service members are asked to call the Parks Office at 732-745-3936 prior to the show they wish to attend for reservations. Proper ID is required when picking up tickets.

Plays-in-the-Park has given Middlesex County over 50 years of quality entertainment, and the Board is so proud that they are joining us in our continued effort to honor our U.S. Service members and veterans,” said Middlesex County Freeholder Director Ronald G. Rios. “I thank the Plays-in-the-Park actors, musicians, technicians, and production team for their hard work and know that they will bring the 2016 season to another outstanding conclusion.”

As fans watching the World Cup know too well, bathroom breaks are a serious dilemma, especially for those who don’t have a TV in the loo.  This biological necessity is exasperated by beer, which during World Cup matches also fuels a strong propensity to throw chairs and instigate riots.
