Police responded to a 911 call and arrived at the intersection around 11 p.m., where they spoke to a motorist who placed the call. He told police that while driving north on Phillips Road toward Baier Avenue he heard multiple “pops” which he initially thought were fireworks.

After hearing something strike his vehicle, which was also occupied by a second man, he realized that it was gun shots. Detectives from the Franklin Township Police Department determined the damage to the vehicle was caused by a gun shot with a canvas of the area recovering 27 shell casings.

Undetermined is whether the two occupants of the car were the intended targets.
