PLAINFIELD, NJ - A Sister March took place in Westfield Saturday morning, one of six being held in New Jersey.  So TAPinto Plainfield hopped the train at Netherwood to check it out.

While waiting for the train to arrive, Plainfield residents Jeff Robinson, Linda McLeod, Judy McMahon and Maya Robinson-Cook chatted about what they could expect at the New York march to which they were headed.

According to womensmarch.com, Sister Marches "are solidarity events inspired by the Women's March on Washington, and organized by volunteers around the world" with 673 marches held on this historic day, and 2.6 million marchers.

Originally, Westfield's Sister March was to start at Lord & Taylor, but with more people than expected registering, marchers were told to gather at the Westfield train station instead to accommodate the crowds.

Men and women, young and old, came to walk, carrying signs and wearing their pussyhats.  The peaceful protestors' signs addressed women's rights, as well as gun control, climate change, LGBT rights, and more.

The half-mile route proceeded from the train station to the office of Leonard Lance, Republican Representative of the 7th District.
