SOMERVILLE, NJ - The Borough Council Monday night paid tribute to N. Bryan Mack, the impeccably dressed barman whose cocktails were legendary and whose panache epitomized “Verve Style.”

Mack died suddenly last month. He was 46.

Anyone who has walked through the doorway of Verve Restaurant, Bar & Bistro over the years knew Mack – and Mack made it his business to know them, offering up their cocktail or beer of choice without them having to ask.

Mayor Brian Gallagher made mention of Mack’s uncanny ability to make every patron feel special, his  attention to detail and an obsession for only the best.

Rick St. Pierre, owner of Verve, and members of Mack’s family were on hand to hear Mayor Brian Gallagher read the resolution:

Whereas, Verve Bar, Bistro & Lounge serves and the center of the Somerville and Somerset County universe and

Whereas, the “Vervestyle” has set the standard for hospitality excellence for Somerville and Somerset County patrons of fine food and drink and

Whereas, we recognize the contributions made by the proprietor Rick St. Pierre to the community and his vision for Verve, and

Whereas, among the most significant strategic moves of his career was the hiring of N.Bryan Mack as Barman and

Whereas, Mack became the face of Verve in Somerset County and the state, exemplifying service, creativity, knowledge, and dedication to the people he served, and

Whereas, the untimely loss of N. Bryan Mack leaves a void in the Somerville and Somerset County communities and

Whereas, the man in the hat wearing three different kinds of stripes and yet being impeccably dressed will no longer greet us at the door with our favorite cocktail or pull our next beer magically out of his vest and

Whereas, we have lost one of the most creative souls that has ever crossed our paths, a chef, an artist, a carpenter, a Master Barman, and a man who was dedicated to serving others

Therefore, to his family, his friends, and the patrons who he served, on behalf of the citizens of Somerville, thank you Mack for allowing us to be part of your life as you will always be part of ours. Rest in the peace until that day that you may serve us again.
