SOMERVILLE, NJ - A 39-year-old resident of North Doughty Avenue has been arrested and charged with distribution of child pornography.
Halil Sahin is being held on $100,000 bail in the Somerset County Jail, according to Acting Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson,
Robertson provided the following details of the investigation that led to the arrest and subsequent charges:
On July 12, detectives assigned to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit and the Somerville Police Department executed a search warrant at Sahin’s residence. Computers and other digital devices that Robertson said contained child pornography were seized.
Members of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Homeland Security Investigations, and the New Jersey Regional Computer Forensic Laboratory also assisted in the search.
Sahin was arrested at his residence without incident and charged with 2nd Degree Distribution of Child Pornography, 3rd Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child and 3rd Degree Possession of Child Pornography
After processing at the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, Sahin was lodged in the Somerset County Jail.
