SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – A Rahway woman escaped serious injury after her car flipped following a collision in the township Monday night, according to police.
The accident took place at around 6:36 p.m. when a silver Toyota Carolla, driven by Florencia Nievas, 21, of Rahway, was making a left hand turn from Route 535 north onto Route 32 west.
Police said that while the Carolla was turning, it struck the side of a Lexus RX4, operated by Paras Dalal, 47, of East Windsor, heading south on Route 535.
The impact caused the Carolla to veer to the right, strike a curb, continue through several bushes, hit the sign of the Courtyard Marriot and finally going through a retaining wall, dropping 12 feet before coming to rest on its roof, police said.
A bystander was able to get Dalal out of his vehicle before police arrived on the scene.
Both drivers were taken to the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro by the Monroe First Aid Squad and treated for non-life threatening injuries, police said.
The road was partially blocked for an hour as George’s Towing used a lift to pick up the Carolla from the hotel parking lot culvert.
An investigation into the crash by the South Brunswick Police Department Traffic Safety Bureau is ongoing, police said.
