SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – South Plainfield has become the latest Middlesex County town to have a bear. The bear was spotted near the corner of Durham Avenue and Hamilton Boulevard at approximately 3:45pm. Residents at the scene have told TAPinto South Plainfield the bear has moved behind Durham Plaza.
The bear is not injured and appears to be moving about its business. “It’s a young bear,” said South Plainfield Police Chief James Parker. “We are keeping our eye on it.”
There have been reports a bear was seen yesterday on Talmadge Road and New Durham Avenue on the South Plainfield and Edison border.
Bears sightings have been common throughout the State, but not in this area. Earlier in the week there was a bear sighting in Iselin. Pedestrians are advised to not approach or attempt to feed the bear. Residents are urged to use caution and common sense when dealing with wildlife.
