SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – Each year, the Garden State Journalists Association (GSJA) honors the best in print, online and broadcast journalism and, for 2020, TAPinto was recognized for excellence in reporting with six Memorial Journalism Awards.

For 2020, Victoria Caruso of TAPinto South Plainfield earned two awards. She placed second in the 'print feature' category for her July 31, 2019 article 'South Plainfield Cop Takes in Dog Left for Dead in Front Street Home' and also earned third place honors in the 'print series' category for her 10-article submission on the South Plainfield Community Pool closure, Democracy Day referendum, and current renovation project.

Additionally, Al Sullivan of TAPinto Bayonne took home three awards, garnering first place in the 'spot news' category, second place in the 'editorial' category, and third place in the 'print business/financial' category, and Faith Ballantine-Armonaitis of TAPinto Hasbrouck Heights/Woodridge/Teterboro earned honorable mention in the 'print series' category.

GSJA's annual competition is open to all reporters, editors, broadcast journalists, photographers, and public relations professionals who live, work in or write about New Jersey; articles published in newspapers, magazines or online are all eligible with the 2020 Memorial Journalism Award contest recognizing work published during the previous calendar year.
