NEW BRUNSWICK,  NJ - About 1,000 kids danced to holiday music and got gifts from Santa Claus on Saturday morning at the 26th annual Holiday Festival For Children at the Sudyam Street Reformed Church. 

Mariam Merced, Director of Community Health Promotion at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, said the toys were collected from several organizations,  including Toys For Tots.

"I love my car," said Jose, wearing a Christmas hat and a beaming smile.

"This time of year,  it is especially important for the children to feel loved and cared for by the community," said Rev. Ramon Orostizaga.

The event was sponsored by Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital,  the New Brunswick Police Department, the Professional Latino Firefighters of Central New Jersey and WellCare.
