I am Robert A. Quinn, Republican Candidate for State Assembly in Legislative District 17 and I’d like to provide the voters with more detail on who I am.

A resident of Franklin Township, I was born in North Plainfield in 1976. I have lived in our great state of New Jersey nearly my entire life and have three siblings.  I have been married to my wife Oichun Luka Wong, a naturalized citizen from the island of Hong Kong, for 12 years.  We are proud to have two children; Terrence, who is 11, and Natalie who is 9. Our family holds our religion as a very important part of our lives and we attend services at both the St Matthias Roman Catholic Church and the Rutgers Community Christian Church in Franklin.

Currently, I work as Global Operations Director at Sungard Availability Services where I oversee the company’s North East Production and Disaster Recovery facilities. In this role, I am directly responsible for Crisis Management and day-to-day operations.  I chair the Global Operations Standardization Committee, which defines standards for the entire department.  As a senior member of the leadership team I chair, or am a member of, over 15 committees made up of many diverse topics and areas of the company.

In 2015, I was an active participant in the State Wide Study Commission sessions that received input on Educational Standards in New Jersey. My involvement through the use of social media helped to define and correct testing abnormalities throughout the state. I have fought to encourage education policies that foster the love of learning for every child in New Jersey. In 2016, I was happy to be appointed as the New Jersey Chapter President for the US Parents Involved in Education, a nationally recognized coalition of parents pursuing the betterment of education for children.  I am also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, whose members trace to a direct ancestor that actively served in the War of Independence.

Beyond this, I have actively served on the St Matthias Knights of Columbus since 2012.  Our family is also an active member in both the Franklin Township Soccer Club and Cedar Hill Club in Franklin. For more information on my background, please visit our website.

Let the Games Begin

I am truly awed by the Olympics.  Watching these superb young athletes on TV inspires me to renew my membership to the gym and pursue my lifelong dream of taking home the gold.

The problem is that in my deluded head, I can see actually see myself standing atop the podium.  I am wrapped in a puffy designer ski coat with a huge piece of bling slung around my neck ...

The Best Way to Pay Your Child a Compliment

“Of course you’re good-looking.”  “You’re the best friend ever.”  “Who wouldn’t want you on their team?”  Is there a parent out there (including me) who hasn’t praised a child in order to make him or her feel better?  Sometimes it’s true, and sometimes we say it because we just can’t stand to see them ...
