PISCATAWAY, NJ – The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for Piscataway and the surrounding area. According to the advisory, strong and potentially damaging winds are expected late tonight through Monday evening.
Middlesex County is under a storm warning, high wind warning and fog warning. The high wind warning has been issued because the upcoming nor’easter is expected to have sustained winds of 30-40 miles per hour with wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour. The strongest winds are expected to be during the day on Monday. The high wind warning is from 3:00 am Monday until 9:00 pm Monday evening.
The timing of the storm is reminiscent of last year’s blizzard which dumped approximately 24 inches of snow in the area on January 23rd and 24th. This year, however, temperatures and the storm track have meteorologist predicting a high wind rain event.
The winds are expected to cause significant power outages due to downed tree limbs and power-lines.
TAPinto Piscataway will continue to monitor the storm and provide updates when they are made available.
