When my grandfather in Perth Amboy founded the area’s first Democratic organization for African Americans, he began a far-reaching legacy in Central New Jersey. He understood that communities were built when every person and group had a voice that would be heard and valued.

Now for three generations, my family has continued his tradition of serving the public and engaging the community, first with my grandfather, then with my mother, Middlesex County Sheriff Mildred Scott, and now me.

I always planned to help others as a healthcare professional. Studying in pharmacy school at Howard University and working on my doctorate at Shenandoah University truly prepared me to be of service to the community, and to meet the healthcare needs of ALL people.  My husband and I chose to raise our children in Piscataway which afforded us the opportunity to become active members in the town ultimately leading me with another opportunity to serve, as a council member. I grew up in this great town of Piscataway and consider it an honor and a privilege to give back to a town that has given me so much. I am proud to serve the residents of Piscataway and I am proud to be part of the Column A Team.

The Column A Democratic Team considers the interest of ALL people of all ages and all groups.  From the free youth sports programs where I volunteered as a softball and T-ball coach to our Sterling Village Senior Housing where I serve on its Board, we meet the needs of every generation.  Also serving on the Board of the Municipal Alliance, we help keep at-risk kids away from drugs and alcohol abuse.

I am thrilled that our Community Center has opened – built from corporate income of new businesses in the Township and at no expense to residents – and that residents of all ages can enjoy plenty of wonderful activities.

Still, while our Township continues to move forward, our country is further mired and failed by the ruinous Trump presidency. That is why I am so very proud of how the Column A Democrats have spoken out forcefully against disgraceful statements and policies that have hindered communities. Piscataway stands as an example in our nation of how success is derived from diversity that is respected and cherished.  With your support, the harmony and great quality of life in our Township will continue with Column A Democratic leadership, and we as Americans will continue our great efforts to bring equality and justice to our country.
