Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, I attended the Newark public schools. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from a HBCU in Columbia, South Carolina, and then went on to earn a Master of Science degree in School Administration and Supervision from Saint Peter’s University in Jersey City.
Seventeen years ago, when my husband of 20 years and I were in search of a community to raise our children, our research landed us in Piscataway. After months of searching, we discovered that Piscataway is a town rich with diversity and ranked high in the quality of education offered. Our parents instilled in both of us the value of a successful education.
As a current employee of one of the largest districts in the state of New Jersey, I am well versed with the needs of a successful school district. One of the most important needs of a successful school district is leadership by strong and qualified individuals that are responsible and committed to ensuring a quality education for all students. In addition, another need that is essential is the ability to offer strategies on strengthening or raising expectations and standards on an instructional and non-instructional level. Providing a safe environment for everyone is also an important need for a successful school district.
I am the sixth of seven children, and I am very family oriented. I live for family and enjoy being involved in my children’s activities and sporting events. From supporting them in their local activities to traveling to Las Vegas to play basketball, I was and continue to be dedicated 100%. School’s social clubs and sporting teams allow students the opportunity to learn beyond the academic core curriculum.
If I am elected, I will passionately support proper discipline, safety, curriculum development and implementation. I am therefore asking for your vote, and to also vote for Kimberly Lane and Parth Desai. Please vote for the candidates in Column 1 on the back of your ballot.
