Laura Leibowitz

About Me:  I have been a resident of Piscataway for many years working as a public school teacher. I am the assistant director of a camp for children with special needs, Camp Lee Mar. Previously, I sat on the boards of NJ District of Kiwanis International, AttachAvi Autism and Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple. I am married to my husband Seth and am the proud mom of Emma, Taylin and Jonah.

What I stand for:  I am a firm believer in being straightforward.  As an advocate for children with special needs I value the concepts of communication and transparency. I hope to carry these values over in representing my neighbors. Piscataway is a town that deserves to be aware of what is happening and deserves honesty.  The council meetings should be broadcasted so that all members of our town can have information on local decisions. Materials regarding these decisions should also be put online to reach a wider audience and connect our government with our people.

Why I am running: I believe that Piscataway deserves new leadership that will truly hear its concerns and fight for them. The Democratic County Committee decides which candidates get the Democratic line on ballots and therefore the stances that candidates take on local issues. Committee members are very influential yet unheard of, but they have kept the same politicians in power for decades. Under new leaders Piscataway can and will flourish.

Maggie Doyle Ball

About Me:  I have been a Piscataway resident for the past 35 years, after completing my bachelor’s degree at Rutgers college. My children have grown up here as they have gone through the Piscataway school system. In the community, I have worked as a swim instructor and coach, CCD teacher, and was a Girl Scout & Cub Scout leader.  Most recently, I have worked as a hospice case manager, working there for the last 14 years.

What I stand for: Investment in our neighborhoods is necessary

  • Our roads should be fixed, and ALL plowed during heavy snow
  • An accessible and affordable community center for all should be constructed
  • Local business and recreation can be expanded with the establishment of a Farmers' Market or dog park

Why I am running: I am a proponent of representative government. I believe in fair representation for all and believe that all members of Piscataway are supported equally. With family spread out across the community I know the importance of linking all areas of the community. I hope to represent my neighbors fairly and adequately.
