I am a retired Homicide Lieutenant with over 25 years of experience in law enforcement with the Essex County Prosecutor’s office, where I was the first female officer assigned to the homicide unit. As an investigator, I was assigned to various units ranging from child abuse, domestic violence and trial sections. Also, I spent 17 years working at Rutgers University providing mental health support to Law Enforcement Officers and their families. I am a Chaplain for New Jersey Women in Law Enforcement (NJWLE) and the Pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Fords. While working at the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office I was involved with the Juvenile Unit and interacted with youthful offenders. I also mentored children in the Law and You Program. This program is an initiative provided by the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) which educates youths on the proper interaction with Law Enforcement.
I am running to be a member of the Piscataway Board of Education because I believe change is a good thing. The team of Fields, Hobson and Patel is ready to take on the task of bringing better, safer schools to Piscataway. We will be fiscally responsible and will work to add diversity to our teaching staff.
I believe that our children are our future therefore, it is incumbent upon us to provide the best education possible for them in a safe environment that will prepare them for any challenges they may face.
I do not believe in attacking my opposition, it serves no purpose. I believe in attacking the challenges put before me, focusing my energy as a member of the Board of Education to make the Piscataway school system the very best that it can be.
On Election Day, November 6th, please vote for a new approach to tackling the hard decisions that need to be made to improve the Piscataway school system for the children, as well as the teachers and administrators. Please consider voting for me, along with my running mates Jeffrey Fields and Nitang Patel on column J.
Thank you for your consideration.
