PISCATAWAY, NJ – Santa Claus made a grand entrance to Piscataway Township’s annual Christmas tree lighting celebration on Friday, arriving by fire truck to the front lawn of the municipal building where a crowd of anxious young children and their parents were gathered.

“Yay, it’s Santa,” one child exclaimed as the ‘big guy’ entered the municipal building’s council chambers which had been transformed into a North Pole theme complete with a Yule Log 'burning' on the high-mounted video monitors.

There the families were treated to pizza, cookies and cider as Santa took his seat and posed for photos with children of all ages who told him what they would like to receive for Christmas this year.

But just before Santa’s arrival, young Emilio helped Mayor Brian Wahler flip the switch outside to light up the Christmas tree and Season’s Greetings display as the crowd counted down to officially start the holiday season in Piscataway.

Children can speak to Santa Claus again on Monday, Dec. 9 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. when he will be featured live on Mayor Wahler’s PCTV show, Eye on Piscataway.

Parents can call into the show at (732) 562-2305 to talk to him, and can tuned in to Optimum Channel 15 or Fios Channel 40 to watch.

The show will also be streamed on Piscataway Community Television’s (PCTV) website and Facebook page.
