PISCATAWAY, NJ – Over $8,500 has been raised so far in a GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral expenses for Ashley Guevara, a Piscataway High School sophomore who was killed in an accident earlier this week.

“It’s so devastating to say that my little sister has passed away due to a terrible accident,” said Nataly Guevara who organized the fundraiser with the goal of raising $20,000.

“My little angel has caught wings at such a young age, 15 years old,” she wrote in the post on Friday. “Just when life has started.”

For classmates who need support as they grieve, “high school counselors from the Haven program will be available on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for a drop-in support group,” said PHS officials in an email alert to parents.

“You or your student can join the Zoom meeting at Zoom room number 465 720 9756. There is no password, just a waiting room,” they said adding that there will be a separate break-out group for parents on how to best support their children.

Funeral arrangements for Ashley have not yet been announced. Those who wish to donate to her funeral can so by clicking here.
