PISCATAWAY, NJ — Piscataway High School will honor the Class of 2020 with a drive-through graduation ceremony on Wednesday, June 17.

Given the size of the Class of 2020, there will be four separate drive-through sessions from 9:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. for the graduating students.

“This is not our typical graduation ceremony,” said Piscataway High School Principal, Jason Lester in a letter to the graduating seniors and their families.

“Our seniors will be allowed to decorate their caps and cars for this momentous occasion. We also plan to have photos taken professionally of graduates as they pose in their vehicles after they receive their diploma case,” added Lester.  The official diplomas will be mailed directly to students.

He continued: “Graduates are to participate using only one car, and family members are welcome to join the graduates in their cars. Piscataway police officers will direct the flow of the traffic and ensure that the drive-through ceremony runs safely and smoothly from start to finish.

“Also, the SGA and the Patton School Store have arranged for a plane to fly throughout the town congratulating the Class of 2020 starting at 4:00 p.m., so be on the lookout.”

“Given the circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been required to think outside the box to celebrate our seniors,” said Lester. “I look forward to seeing all of you on this glorious day.”

On Thursday, June 18th at 6:00 p.m., a virtual graduation will be aired on the district website in its entirety with speeches from students and administration.
