PISCATAWAY, NJ – Early reporting showed a neck-and-neck race for three seats to the Piscataway Township School Board, but according to unofficial results, it was the challengers who crossed the finish line first, ousting incumbents who each sought their third terms in office.

Jeffrey Fields, Sr., took 19% of the votes, with running mates Shelia Hobson and Nitang Patel both taking 18% to defeat Atif Nazir, Isaac Peng, and Ira Stern who ran for reelection highlighting their track records while on the board.

Nazir, Peng, and Stern each claimed 15% of the ballots, according to the unofficial results posted on the Middlesex County Board of Elections website.

In the race for township council, incumbents, Jim Bullard, Michele Lombardi, Steven Cahn and Frank Uhrin keep their seats as each ran unopposed in their respective wards to claim 100% of the votes.

Democrat incumbents, Ronald G. Rios and Shanti Narra hold on to their Middlesex County Freeholder seats, taking 32% and 31% respectively of the votes over Republican challengers, Rich Castaldo and Lewis Glogower.

On the state level, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. easily defeated Republican challenger, Rich Pezzullo, 68%-32% to keep the 6th Congressional District seat he’s held since 1988.

In the hard-fought battle for U.S. Senate, Democrat incumbent, Bob Menedez stood tall, getting 58% of the votes to his Republican challenger, Bob Hugin’s 39%.

And by just over 1300 votes, New Jersey voters said ‘yes’ to the Securing Our Children’s Future Bond Act, the only state public question on the ballot. The act now secures $500 million in bonds to fund school infrastructure projects including expanding facilities and programs, as well as improving security and safety measures.
