NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – The New Brunswick Community Farmers Market will open for its 11th season on Saturday, June 22.
A variety of products will be offered, including fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, ready-to-eat prepared foods, locally-crafted gifts and more. Seasonal vendors at the market will include Stillwell Farm, Honey Brook Organic Farm, Cox Corner Market, Sofi Accessories, Planting with P and Tina Argonish Designs.
Special events in 2019 will feature samples of fresh fruits and vegetables, taste-tests of new food items and live music at selected markets. New for 2019, North Brunswick-based Mollaga Indian Grill will offer Indian-inspired dishes that feature traditional recipes with a modern culinary twist at the market on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
The NBCFM will operate at two locations. Beginning June 22, the Market Pavilion at 178 Jones Ave. is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. and every Tuesday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., through Oct. 29. The market will open in its second location in Kilmer Square Park at 108 Albany St. from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. from Wednesday, June 26 through Oct. 30.
Food assistance benefits will be accepted for eligible purchases at all markets. Customers shopping with SNAP/EBT cards or WIC/Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program checks receive double the value with NBCFM “Market Bucks” vouchers for free fruits and vegetables at the farmers market.
All customers can earn Market Bucks through market activities offered at no cost. Adults can join free nutrition programs to learn about adding affordable fruits and vegetables into their meals, safe food preparation, and healthy eating on a budget. Free children’s activities teach families about what’s in season and how to make healthy choices through hands-on art, music, and games.
